January 10th: The Glory of God
As we continue through the 21 days of prayer, learning to pray the way Jesus prayed, about the things Jesus prayed for, today we turn our attention to John 17, to what is often referred to as Jesus’ high priestly prayer.
John 17 records some of many things Jesus prayed for while in the Garden of Gethsemane, in the hours leading up to death on the cross. It gives us a glimpse into His relationship with God the Father, and shows us His heart. The very first thing evident in Jesus’ prayer is His desire to glorify God the Father. In fact the prayer opens: “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you (Jn 17:1)
The overwhelming desire of Jesus heart, throughout His life and ministry (reflected in His prayer) is the desire to glorify God. As you spend time in prayer today, spend time praising and giving glory to God for who He is.
